Our last morning in Cuba we wandered off for some early morning photos before heading back to savor one last breakfast at the hotel. This morning we saw coffee ready at the bottom of some stairs, children heading off to school, neighbors greeting us from doorways, and bread baking. We think our photos speak for themselves, telling their own unique stories. We will leave them here for you to ponder.

One scene we came across several times was trash piled high in dumpsters below signs that say no trash, no dumping. While there were corners and spots with trash on the street, there were equally streets that were clean and clear of any trash, and we met neighbors sweeping and cleaning their streets.

We collected our bags from the hotel and headed off to the airport to catch our flights home. How can we sum up this wonderful trip? We recently read a quote that we feel says it all:
We travel because we need to, because distance and difference are the secret tonic to creativity. When we get home, home is still the same, but something in our minds has changed, and that changes everything. -J. Lehrer
It’s the tonic of travel on this trip that has changed us, helped us evolve, and planted great fondness of the wonderful people we met here in Cuba. We want to acknowledge Alain Lazaro Gutierrez Almeida , our trip organizer, leader and experience maker. Having grown up in Cuba, Alain was able to create opportunities for us to go to unique places and meet so many people that we otherwise would not have had the opportunity to meet. Alain is also a phenomenal photographer, teacher and photo making muse. We truly saw Cuba through your eyes, and we are so very grateful.
