Launch Time -48 Hours and Counting

Today we begin our journey to our Grand Canyon River Rafting Photography trip!

We decided to travel out a day early to allow more travel time for any weather related snafu’s, plus it gives us a day to rest, repack and reorganize. We flew from Dulles to Las Vegas Nevada, and rented a car to drive to Cliff Dwellers Lodge where our adventure will commence!

We checked our bags, and our plane left Dulles International Airport on time, and we actually arrived into LV early!

We collected our luggage, picked up our rental car, and we were on the road! We always love a roadtrip!

We used our Road Tripper app for the drive to Cliff Dwellers, as there were some sights to see along the way. The scenery changed from the glittery and industrial cityscape of Las Vegas to the skyscrapers of the wild.

As we travelled through small towns, we were taken with the beautiful views on the streets.

We stopped to take some photos of the weather that seemed to be following us, and we tried our best to outrun the rain.

We arrived at Cliff Dwellers Lodge, in the late afternoon and settled into our room. Cliff Dwellers is literally at the base of the Vermillion Cliffs. The views are spectacular, and across the flat land, not that far away we could see fissures leading into the Grand Canyon that we will begin to travel through in just another 36 hours!

Once we settled in, we headed to the Cliff Dwellers Restaurant for dinner. Our meals were tasty and just what we needed after a busy day of travel.

The rain eventually caught up with us, and we were treated to a wonderful rainbow. It seems we are staying in the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

We are off for a good nights sleep; tomorrow will be another day to explore before we meet our group for dinner in the evening!

I tend to think of the act of photographing, generally speaking, as an adventure. My favorite thing is to go where I’ve never been.
